Do you ever read something and it just kick you in the gut so you stop whining? Stop getting mad about things that don’t matter?
You know what matters?
Let me clarify what I’m referring to as mattering. An idea, a disciple/practice, an activity that is worthy of our time, creativity, energy, thoughts, and involvement.
So – what matters? God and all those that bear His image, us. Humans – good, bad, pretty, ugly, fat, skinny, rude, polite, kind, or harsh. It matters how we as Christ loving, Christ following, abiding in Christ, Christ worshipping people treat those other humans we are surrounded by.
That we love them. Even when they treat us horribly. Because no matter what they do to us, it will NEVER compare to what they did to Jesus. Nor does it compare to what the devil does to them now.
So we love.
We cannot do this in our own strength – If you think that you can do it, you are sorely mistaken. Sooner or later, your flesh sours the purity of God’s love when you try to do it on your own.
We must take watch that we do not lose what we have worked for and that is the ability to love as God loves. Otherwise we will lose those we are meant to reach.
It’s not easy; to love those who are bent on getting the most out of every sin that they can. But they are worth it – not just my opinion, Jesus thinks so highly of every sinner that he went to the cross for each of us and he would do it again. He thinks and loves us that much. But I am so thankful He doesn’t make mistakes or need to do something a second time – He defeated hell, death, and the grave ONCE AND FOR ALL!!
Jesus, we know you love us. We know we love you. We know that it brings you joy when we love one another. We know we cannot do it on our own. We know that we need your love and strength to flow through us to those around us. We know we do not want to hinder this process. Reveal to us on God where we are blocking and need to removed so that you are purely shown. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for each opportunity to love. Thank you for abiding in us and allowing us to abide in your presence day in and day out. Thank you Jesus for going to the cross and that you are perfect and only needed to do that once. Thank you for precious blood that saves us and your love that casts out every fear and lie.
