This is a parable given to me from the Lord regarding this important issue of pruning. This is His combination of the previous two lessons “You cut me deep!’ and “Pruning Cautions”
This is to show his purpose for pruning, how he does it, why he does it, and what happens when we take it into our own hands – without HIS permission
It is short but God doesn’t need superfluous explanations to make his case. They’re strong enough in short bursts.
Parable of Master Gardener, Tree Manager
Imagine you get a job, you are an aborologist (tree scientist) and you get this brand new job at a nursery. You have LOADS of experience with trees, but not these trees. One day the tree manager comes up to you and says “Go to Lot 57, Tree 523, branch on L side, 3rd up – use this tool to cut it off at the base.” You’re so excited, He has entrusted this important task to you but look at what he has told you. In his orders he has given us permission, the correct tools to implement his precise request.
Why would we then decide to go all Paul Bunyan on his tree garden and lop off any branch we think these trees don’t need? Mind you, these trees – unless appointed to us by the Tree Manager himself – are completely unknown to us. We have no idea what is going on with them or the things they are going through.
That concludes the lesson on pruning, be sure to have heard from the Lord when you are about to prune. And to those who are going through a season of pruning – “test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1
