Small beginnings Pt. 2

Small beginnings cont.
– Isaiah 61:11 “Soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes the seeds to grow”
o The seed will grow on its own if the conditions are right but it won’t always grow if there is no care, no garden
o Garden: to lay out and to cultivate a garden; to prepare ground, to plant and till it, for the purpose of producing plants, shrubs, flowers, and fruits
 God lays out our hearts to cultivate them, he prepares our hearts by tilling it – break up the hard surface and brings the moist and ready soil underneath to the top.
 This is to produce plants and fruits – produce the oak f righteousness and the fruits of the Spirit
o Gardens have to have a gardener.
 Gardener: one whose occupation is to make, tend, and DRESS a garden
 He will dress us with a crown of beauty, oil of gladness, garment of praise, garment of salvation, robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels Isaiah 61:3, 10
– Germination
o Germinate: to sprout, to bud, to shoot, to begin to vegetate, as a plant or its seed
o Germination: the act of sprouting; the first beginning of vegetation in a seed or plant; the time in which seeds vegetate, after being planted or sown
 This only takes place AFTER being sown or planted. It can’t go the other way around – germinate then planted – it just doesn’t make sense.
 If this applies to physical trees it applies to us, to our oaks of righteousness. We can only being to grow in righteousness AFTER being planted. Isaiah 61:3
 God plants in us and plants US – Psalm 92:12-13 “The flourish like a palm tree,, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; Those who are planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the courts of our God.”
o Right conditions:
 Oak tree seed will germinate after a long string of cold nights, winter, is followed by a series of warmer nights, spring. Cold, no life, no activity to warmth, life begins, activity flourishes.
 “The winter has passed and the springtime has come” Dance with Me by Brownsville “The winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth” Song of Solomon 2:11-12a
 Our spiritual right conditions being when we start seeking the face of God. We have chosen to partner with him, when we have come into agreement with him
• Genesis 15:6 Obey and believe him
• Isaiah 64:6 We realize we have no righteousness on our own
• Ephesians 6:14 Righteousness is part of our protection
• 2 Timothy 3:16 Reading the Word and training our righteousness
• Romans 6:13 A goal we strive for in everything we do and control the old self so that we do what is in right standing with God
